These little cuties are sure to inspire your little one to play, match, size, sort, and invent games to learn by. Having three different sized apples lends itself to a myriad of learning opportunities built-in to play. My little ones invented a game using the Buckets and Rainbow Roller (both add-ons). They take turns rolling to see which color to collect from the bucket. They get so excited when they are able to "block" one another from collecting ALL of something (small, medium, large, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). Then my older one counts them to determine whose pile is greater than, less than or equal to -- she categorizes and reevaluates her calculations based on different characteristics. She even went so far as to graph their game on occasion! She takes gaming very seriously :)
Each Sort Apples comes with 18 apples; 3 of each color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple; one of each size per color: small, medium, large. The smallest apple is definitely miniature at 1/2" diameter and 1/2" tall diameter. The medium apple is approximately 3/4" diameter and 7/8" tall. The biggest apple is approximately 1 and 3/8" diameter and 1and 1/4" tall. Each apple has been painted using a soy based wash and coated in beeswax and jojoba oil to seal the color and protect the wood.
Due to the size of these apples they are recommended for children 3+ as they could pose a choking hazard, especially for mouthy-explorers.
